Protein G Agarose
Catalog Number: P02-P0111
Size: 1 ml (settled), Support: Crosslinked 6% beaded agarose supplied as a 50% slurry (e.g., 1mL of settled resin is equivalent to 2 mL of 50% slurry).
Binding capacity: up to 15 mg human IgG per mL of settled resin
Description: Recombinant streptococcal protein G lacking the albumin binding region thereby avoiding undesirable reactions with albumin, though the Fc binding domain is still present. The recombinant Protein G is produced in Escherichia coli using sequence from Streptococcus C1-C2-C3. The Protein G contains 196 amino acids (190-384) having a molecular mass of 21.6 kDa. The Protein-G migrates on SDS-PAGE around 30 kDa.
Specificity: Protein G binds with greater affinity to most mammalian immunoglobulins than Protein A, including human IgG3 and rat IgG2a, and does not bind to human IgM, IgD and IgA.
Applications: The albumin and cell surface binding domains have been eliminated from Recombinant Protein G to reduce nonspecific binding and, therefore, can be used to separate IgG from crude samples. Optimal binding occurs at pH 5, although binding is also good at pH 7.0-7.2.
Formulation: Solution in 20% alcohol. Before use, please spin down the beads, move away the supernatant, wash with PBS or the desired buffer three times, keep at 4-8C.
Storage: 1 year at 2-8°C. Don’t freeze. Product is shipped at ambient temperature.
Usage: This material is for research, laboratory or further evaluation purposes.
